West Point and Clay County are grieving after an unthinkable tragedy that has shaken our entire community. In a matter of moments, multiple lives were lost and multiple families were forever changed. Many are still processing the shock, heartbreak, and overwhelming loss.
In times like these, our community does what it does best — we show up.
In response, United Way of the Golden Triangle Region is launching United for West Point, a Family Assistance Fundraising effort to support all families impacted by this tragedy. While individual GoFundMe pages and other efforts exist, United Way is stepping forward to provide a trusted, centralized place to give.
United Way does not respond to every individual tragedy. If this had involved only one or two families, we likely would not have stepped in. But this tragedy is different. The impact is widespread, urgent, and long-term — emotionally, financially, and spiritually — for families across our region.
United Way is involved because:
- multiple families need immediate assistance
- the community is asking for a trusted place to give
- donors deserve confidence that funds will be handled with accountability and care
- 100% of all donations will go directly to the families of the victims.
Funds will support:
- funeral and memorial expenses
- travel and lodging needs
- urgent household expenses
- food and basic necessities
- recovery and long-term support as families begin to rebuild
Every gift matters, and every gift will be used to support the families affected.
